Baggage Policy

I. Baggage Allowance

 

  • Checked baggage and Carry-on Baggage is always displayed on each ticket class for easy checking before booking the ticket. While prepaid baggage and Excess baggage charge rates depend on each zone and weight.
     
  • Bellow baggage policy is only for reference and applied for flights operated by Bangkok Airways only. Baggage policy of Shared-Code flights will be subject to operator policy.

Important note:

 

  • Prepaid baggage fee is non-re-routable/non-transferable and non-refundable in any case even your actual baggage’s weight is less than the prepaid baggage paid.
     
  • Prepaid baggage fee is non-refundable after confirmation email is sent out to your registered email address.
     
  • For passengers who wish to change to another flight due to the delay/cancellation, previously issued prepaid baggage may be carried over to the new flight. Change should be done at least 48 hours prior to your departure time.
     
  • In some cases, the baggage rules that apply for your journey may be different from above information. If you are our customer, please contact us throught email cs@bangkok-airline.com for futher advice.

3Excess Baggage Rate Charge
 

For baggage that exceeds the free baggage allowance, the passenger will be charged for the Excess Baggage Rate Charge. Excess Baggage Rate Charge is calculated as follows:
 

  1. Domestic route: USD8 per kilogram per sector
     
  2. International route: Excess Baggage Charge Rate depends on the zone as following table:

Important note:

- As per directive from Airport of Thailand, one checked baggage maximum weight is 32 kilograms. If baggage weight exceeds 32 kilograms per one piece, the baggage must be re-packed.

- Bangkok Airways accepts sports equipment as checked baggage as part of your standard baggage allowance. Any exceeded weight resulting from such inclusion shall be assessed at the Excess Charge rate above.

II. Special baggage:

 

1. Special Baggages

 

List of Special Baggages as following table:

1 Bicycle
  • One bike per passenger is allowed.
  • 2nd one or more to be charged as normal excess baggage charge.
2 Bowling
  • One item defined as one bowling ball, one bowling bag, and one pair of bowling shoes and must be packed suitably.
  • Bowling is included in the allowance
3 Fishing equipment
  • Fishing Equipment is included in the allowance.
  • Maximum length: 109 inch (277 cm) for Airbus and 170 cm for ATR
  • A set includes one fishing tackle box, one landing net, one pair of fishing boots, 2 reels and 2 rods packed suitably.
4 Golfing
  • Can be accepted on all flight as checked baggage only.
  • Maximum of 1 golf set per passenger.
  • One golf set is inclusive of one golf bag, club sets and one pair of golf shoes.
5 Carriage of Hypodermic Needles
  • According to Thai law (and in accordance with international practices), hypodermic needles are classified as prohibited items within an aircraft cabin unless the passenger can demonstrate a bona fide need to have them in their possession.
  • Acupuncture needles are classified as prohibited items and are not allowed to be carried on to an aircraft cabin.
  • Passenger (and/or CIQ passenger) is required to carry a medical certificate or any other relevant documentation and identification to confirm that the hypodermic needles are required for use during the journey for a specified medical condition.
  • We allow passengers to carry sufficient number of needles as described in the medical certificate on board to cover the period from initial uplift and any onward transportation until the passengers are reunited with their checked baggage.
  • Hypodermic needle supplies in excess of the passenger’s in-flight travel requirements should be carried within checked baggage, where there is no restriction on the number of hypodermic needles you may carry.
  • Pen needles, syringes and injectable medicines are able to be accepted with no limitation and without Medical certificate or relevant documents.
  • PG allows using Insulin Pumps on board for medical use without doctor certification.

Note: Not all airport screening points are managed by Bangkok Airways and these screening authorities may have policies that differ from ours. Please check the regulations with the authorities of your destination, as these aforementioned policies may not be within the airlines control.

6 CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) & POC (Portable Oxygen Concentrator)
  • PG allows passengers to bring CPAP/POC devices in to the cabin but the passenger has to let down water from the CPAP to pass the security check.
  • If the CPAP has a battery, both built-in or external, it will be considered as ‘dangerous goods,’ as listed in the IATA Dangerous Goods Manual.
  • If the passenger has a lithium-ion battery exceeding a Watt-hour rating of 100 Watt-hours but not exceeding 160 Watt-hours, they may be carried as spare batteries in carry-on baggage, or in equipment in either checked or carry-on baggage. The airline kindly requests that no more than 2 individually-protected spare batteries per person may be carried on to the plane.
  • PG will allow the use of CPAP on board for medical use without a doctor’s certificate, but does not permit the use of POC on board.
7 Diving equipment

Diving equipment is accepted as checked baggage on all flights of Bangkok Airline providing it is packed properly. One set of diving equipment is inclusive of:

  • One scuba regulator.
  • One tank harness.
  • One tank pressure gauge.
  • Face mask.
  • One pair of fins.
  • One dive suit/vest.
  • Buoyancy control device (BCD).
  • Snorkel.
  • Weight belt.
  • One empty cylinder tank.
  • One diving lamp.
  • Spear Gun : must be unloaded with spear and must be packed separately.

Note: Diving lamps which contain rechargeable lead acid batteries (spillable) will not be accepted on board our aircraft as check-in or as hand baggage, as these items are listed as prohibited items under the Dangerous Goods Regulations.

8 E-Cigarette Regulations E-cigarettes are accepted as hand baggage to carry on to the plane but smoking is not allowed on board.
9 Firearms and Ammunition (Pistol)
  • Firearms and ammunition can be accepted on domestic flights as checked baggage only.
  • Each passenger is requested not to carry more than 5kg of ammunition.
  • The passenger must show the valid and proper document relating to their firearms and ammunition during check-in;
  • A license for purchase firearms or ammunition (Por. 3) or
  • A license for possession and use of firearms and ammunition (Por. 4) or
  • A license for carrying firearms and ammunition (Por. 12) or
  • A police identification card (used as firearm licenses) at Police Captain rank or higher rank or
  • A license or certificate for carrying firearms issued, under Thai law, to government officer, state enterprise, or person to possess and use for government support such as a license for carrying firearm of Department of Special Investigation officer (DSI) or a license for carrying issued by National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), etc.

Important Note: the copy of document relating to firearms and ammunition is not accepted on all flights.

Firearms will only be accepted if unloaded. Loose ammunition or clips shall not accept.

10 Skateboard Skateboards will be accepted as checked baggage but not cabin baggage.
11 Surfboard Surfboard will be accepted as checked baggage if the length of the surfboard does not exceed 109 inches (277 cm) for Airbus and does not exceed 170 cm for ATR.
12 Prohibited Items

You must not include in your Baggages:

-Items, which are reasonably, considered by us to be unsuitable for carriage because they are dangerous, unsafe or because of their weight, size, shape or character.

-Firearms, ammunition and support instruments are prohibited from carriage as Baggage unless having acceptance from the authority. Explosives, explosive materials, flammable substances, items, which can be used as threatening weapons, and other dangerous substances may only be accepted as Checked Baggage, subject to Our Regulations. For safety reason, cartridges must be taken out from the guns. Cartridges must be suitably packed. Carriage of the firearms, ammunition and support instrument is subject to Our Regulations and those of ICAO, IATA, Airport Authorities.

- You are prohibited from including in your Checked Baggage, fragile or perishable items (fresh and perishable foodstuff…), artwork, cameras, money, jeweler, precious metals, silverware, computers, electronic devices, securities or other valuables, negotiable papers, contract, business documents, samples, passports and other identification documents, other valuable items.

 

2. Restricted Baggage

 

You must not include in your Baggages:

 

  • Items, which are reasonably, considered by us to be unsuitable for carriage because they are dangerous, unsafe or because of their weight, size, shape or character.
  • Firearms, ammunition and support instruments are prohibited from carriage as Baggage unless having acceptance from the authority. Explosives, explosive materials, flammable substances, items, which can be used as threatening weapons, and other dangerous substances may only be accepted as Checked Baggage, subject to Our Regulations. For safety reason, cartridges must be taken out from the guns. Cartridges must be suitably packed. Carriage of the firearms, ammunition and support instrument is subject to Our Regulations and those of ICAO, IATA, Airport Authorities.

 

  • You are prohibited from including in your Checked Baggage, fragile or perishable items (fresh and perishable foodstuff…), artwork, cameras, money, jeweler, precious metals, silverware, computers, electronic devices, securities or other valuables, negotiable papers, contract, business documents, samples, passports and other identification documents, other valuable items.
     

3Right to refuse carriage

 

  • The carrier may refuse to carry as Baggage the items described in Article #3, and we may refuse further carriage of any such items upon discovery that it is included in your Baggage. Unless advance arrangements for its carriage have been made with us, we may carry on later flights Baggage, which is in excess of the applicable free allowance.
  • The carrier may refuse to accept Baggage as Checked Baggage unless it is properly and securely packed in suitcases and suitable containers to ensure safe carriage with ordinary care in handling.
