Referring to the announcement made by The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) of the Kingdom of Cambodia regarding the relocation of Siem Reap International Airport (REP) to Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI), starting from October 16, 2023, onwards, we would like to provide the details as follows:

1. The new international airport has been officially named "Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (where is located in approx. 52 km from Siem Reap town) " by the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) and is scheduled to open for operations from 16 October 2023 onwards.

2. The Siem Reap Angkor International Airport has received the official code from the International Air Transport Association (IATA Code) as SAI and from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO Code) as VDSA.

3. All commercial flights of air passengers and cargo that are being operated at the current Siem Reap International Airport (REP) will be transferred entirely and one time only to Siem Reap Angkor International Airport from 00:00 AM (Cambodian Time) on 16 October 2023.

In compliance with the regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) regarding the use of standard passenger and baggage weights for weight and balance calculation purposes, conducting a standard weights survey is essential for the safety and efficiency of a flight.

In order to meet the growing demand for air travel among both domestic and international travelers, Bangkok Airways recently introduced direct flight connecting two prominent tourist destinations in northern Thailand – Lampang and Mae Hong Son.

The flight departs from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport at 11:55 and will stop in Lampang for 40 minutes before continuing on to Mae Hong Son at 15:00. The airline confirmed it will use an ATR72 with 70 seats on the Lampang - Mae Hong Son route.

We are very pleased to announce that Bangkok Airways will launch its new direct flight from Lampang to Mae Hong Son v.v starting from 2 August 2023. The new direct flights between Lampang and Mae Hong Son will be operated three times weekly (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) with ATR 72-600 aircraft with a capacity of 70 seats. We would like to announce the revision of separate ticket check-through service for International to International route and will provide Baggage check-through service for passenger who is holding separate ticket of airlines with concluding MITA agreement with Bangkok Airways. The connecting time must not be less than 1 hour 15 minutes and not be over the transit without visas time.

Upon check-in, the passenger must state his/her intention to have check-through baggage to his/her destination.

In case their checked baggage weight is more than the baggage allowance for connecting flights, excess baggage fee will be collected from the passenger, according to an individual airline rate announced in ATPCO. Otherwise, the baggage will only be checked to destination on first ticket only.

Currently, the government is promoting vaccination nationwide and allowing point travel for all ages, provided the seniors, pregnant women and those with identified health risks are fully vaccinated. Therefore, we are optimistic that more local government units (LGUs) will ease travel restrictions for traveller in the near future.

As of October 13, 2021, domestic destinations which have relaxed their travel requirements and provided special considerations for fully vaccinated travelers include:

BUTUAN Fully-vaccinated travelers may present their Vaccination Cards in lieu of taking RT-PCR tests. 
CAGAYAN DE ORO  No COVID-19 test required for all travelers
CATARMAN No COVID-19 test required for all travelers.
CORON Fully-vaccinated travelers with negative RT-PCR/Saliva test result are now allowed to travel to Coron.  (Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers are however not allowed).  
CULION Fully-vaccinated travelers with negative RT-PCR test result are now allowed. (Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers are however not allowed).  
CEBU PROVINCE (other than Cebu City, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu City) Travelers may present a Medical Certificate secured 24 hours before flight.

Fully-vaccinated travelers may take a Saliva Test (within 48 hours of departure) instead of RT-PCR or Antigen tests. 

Cebu-bound tourists whose final destination is Mactan island must comply with Lapu-Lapu City’s travel requirements. Currently, Lapu-Lapu City requires a negative RT-PCR/Antigen test result prior to departure.

PUERTO PRINCESA Fully-vaccinated APOR travelers who intend to stay in the city for a maximum of 3 days only may present their vaccination cards/records to be exempted from the mandatory 10-day quarantine. 
PAGADIAN CITY  No COVID-19 test required for all travelers. 
TACLOBAN Fully-vaccinated travelers may present their Vaccination Cards in lieu of taking RT-PCR tests.  

The flag carrier urges the flying public to take advantage of their fully vaccinated status when traveling to domestic destinations.  

Additionally, the IATF announced that, beginning Oct. 16, the alert level status in Metro Manila will be downgraded to Alert Level 3, which has more relaxed restrictions and allows for reopening of more businesses, vs. the current Level 4.  

With this announcement, we expects an uptake in domestic travel in the next few months especially in tourist destinations such as Boracay. Travelers are reminded to comply with Boracay’s tourist travel requirements: 

  • Negative RT-PCR Test Result (accredited DOH Labs) or Saliva-based test result (PH Red Cross only) with 72 hours validity from date of travel 

  • Confirmed booking from DOT-accredited establishments 

  • Approved S-Pass 

  • Registration as tourist at aklan.gov.ph or touristboracay.com

On July 12, 2021, the Thai government started the applications for the Samui Plus Sandbox program that allows foreign and Thai travelers to enter Samui in Thailand without quarantine. The program is scheduled to start on July 15, 2021 which makes it the second Thai province of this “sandbox” model, following Phuket Sandbox that started 2 weeks before. The information highlighted in this article serves as an easy-to-follow guide on how to enter Thailand without quarantine.

Condition:

  • Foreign travellers must travel from countries/regions with a low to medium risk of COVID-19 as announced and constantly updated by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH). They must also have already stayed in the said countries/regions no less than 21 days before the travel date.
  • Thai nationals and foreign expatriates returning to Thailand must travel from countries/regions with a low to medium risk of COVID-19 as announced and constantly updated by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH). It is not necessary to have stayed in these countries for 21 days before travel.
  • Foreign and Thai travelers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a vaccine registered with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) or approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO) no less than 14 days before the travel date, and must have a vaccine certificate or card to verify their vaccination;
  • Unvaccinated children under 18 years of age traveling with fully vaccinated parents or guardians are required to take a COVID-19 test within 72 hours before traveling to Thailand in lieu of the COVID 19 vaccination.

You can fly to Samui on a direct international flight or international flight via Bangkok and be connected with approved sealed flights as details below.

For the flight via Bangkok, the ticket must be issued on the same booking with an international flight in conjunction with such approved Bangkok-Samui-Bangkok flights. Any flight reservations booked separately will not be allowed.

We would like to announce that from 15 May 2020, Bangkok – Samui twice daily service will continue to operate with preventive and social distancing measures in accordance with the Ministry of Public Health and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.

Passengers of the first flight resumption on 15 May will be provided with special face marks.

Measures including body temperature screening, requirement of wearing masks, onboard seat allocations with necessary distance… are applied in the airport.

In which, passengers will be required to fill out health declaration form by Samui Municipality at the port of origin and wear masks at all times during their journey.

Bangkok Airways recently announce that they will stop operating The Boutique Lounge at Siem Reap International Airport (Cambodia) from 10th December 2019.

We're so sorry for this inconvenience caused due to this closure.
